5 Tips to Prep for Spring

Spring is finally in the air! And in Utah that means dramatic changes in weather. We experience warm sunshine one day and a quick rainstorm the next. While the change in seasons brings unpredictability outside, it provides an opportunity to clean and update the inside of our homes. When breaking out the vacuum and mop, keep in mind that your HVAC system needs a cleaning too.

Follow our five tips to prepare your system for the changing seasons to ensure a smooth transition.

1. Schedule an AC tune-up

Prevent any potential issues from popping up by scheduling an AC tune-up. This will ensure your air conditioning system is running efficiently this spring and summer and will be less likely to break down.

2. Change your air filters

This is an easy task you can add to your to-do list. Your home’s air quality will be improved with this simple step, especially if it’s been a while since you last changed them.

3. Test your thermostat

Pick a warm day to take your system on its first run of the season. Pay attention to noises and the temperature to make sure it’s working properly. If your home isn’t cooling down, call a trusted technician to identify the problem.

4. Check your outdoor unit

Just as your air filters experience build-up, so can your outdoor unit. Remove any covers you may use and check around your unit for leaves and fallen branches. Take a peek inside the unit in case anything may have fallen into it.

5. Consider an upgrade

The new season is a great time to have a new HVAC system installed. If your system is old, replacing it could lower your utility bill and give you better control of your home’s temperature.
